Built to Be Repaired
Since 1979, Studio D’Artisan has made durable, heavy-duty jeans inspired by traditional workwear.
Workwear was never meant to be disposable. It was worn, repaired, and worn again. We believe the same applies to selvedge denim.
Fading, fraying, and even tearing are part of the life of raw denim. With proper repair, jeans can continue to be worn for many years.
Denim Repair & Maintenance
We offer repair services in Japan for Studio D’Artisan jeans, including:
-
Tear repair
-
Pocket reinforcement
-
Chain stitch re-hemming
-
Patchwork and darning
-
Structural seam repair
However, in most cases, repairs can be carried out easily by a skilled local tailor or denim repair specialist.
For customers outside Japan, we strongly recommend using a trusted local repair service. This is typically faster, more practical, and significantly more affordable than shipping your jeans internationally.
Selvedge denim repair does not require factory return in most situations. A competent tailor can handle:
-
Knee blowouts
-
Pocket bag replacement
-
Hem repairs
-
Seam reinforcement
-
Minor structural damage
If you are unsure, we are happy to advise before you proceed.
Repair as Part of the Story
Repair is not a flaw, it is part of the garment’s history.
Well-executed repairs add character and extend the lifespan of raw denim. Whether repaired locally or in Japan, the goal is the same: to keep wearing them.
