Amami Island Mud-Dyed GL3 Jeans [D1913] Plus Size

To fully maximize the characteristics of the power loom “GL3” by Toyota Automatic Loom Works, created over half a century ago, every detail—from the uneven texture and yarn count to the number of warp and weft threads— is designed using D’Artisan’s unique recipe. This is the original 15oz selvedge denim called “GL3 Denim.” It features a distinctive unevenness and rugged texture that modern efficient and uniform mass-produced denim cannot replicate.

We crafted these jeans from such special denim, then dyed them using the traditional “Amami Mud Dyeing” technique passed down in Amami Oshima Island.

Using dye from the native Tachibana tree (Wheel Tree) and iron-rich mud derived from strata over 1.5 million years old, each pair is carefully dyed by natural forces. The depth and warmth of color achieved cannot be reproduced with artificial dyes.

The silhouette is a regular straight fit based on the SD-101 model. With a timeless shape that you can wear for years, Enjoy the aging process unique to naturally dyed denim.
