Kakishibu Sashiko Jeans [1831]

A traditional dyeing technique called 'Kakishibu Dyeing' has been passed down since the Heian period over 900 years ago.

It is said that samurai and yamabushi wore garments dyed in reddish-brown Kakishibu during the Heian period.

Due to its high antibacterial and deodorizing properties, fabric dyed with Kakishibu was also used as a herbal medicine.

As the fabric is exposed to sunlight and air, the color changes and deepens, which is why it is also referred to as sun-dyed.

This technique has been a part of the lives of the Japanese people for a long time and continues to this day.

These 'Kakishibu Sashiko Jeans [1831]' are made using

Kakishibu-dyed yarn for the weft, which is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique created by nature,

and the warp is made from the highest concentration of indigo yarn dyed in kasen.

We use 14oz original sashiko selvedge denim.

By increasing the number of wefts to the extreme, we recreate the thick fabric with the original texture of sashiko.

The expression created by the thickness that appears to have multiple layers, along with the fluffiness of the yarn,

enhances the unique texture and wearing comfort of sashiko woven fabric.

The overlapping colors of Kakishibu and indigo embody 'Japanese colors' that possess gentleness, depth, and elegance.
