In the early 1900s, this fabric was developed for workers in the harsh cold regions of the East Coast of America. By twisting together two different colored threads, a random color variation appears on the surface, creating a unique texture with depth. This mixed random color texture is the origin of the term "goma shio" (sesame salt). This fabric, which boasts excellent cold resistance and durability, was highly valued by workers in harsh environments, such as hunting and forestry.

It is also said to have been named "Beach Cloth" because surfers of the time wore it to warm up on the beach. From the 1920s to the 1930s, this fabric spread beyond the East Coast to the entire United States, becoming popular among many workers and outdoor enthusiasts. At D'Artisan, we created the 'Kasuri Dyed Beach Cloth' fabric, inspired by this beloved American material, fused with the traditional textile "Kasuri," which was treasured as a garment for the common people in Japan. The surface of the fabric uses kasuri yarn for the warp, creating irregularly interrupted linear patterns, expressing the scene of pouring rain.

Additionally, the reverse side is made with wool fleece, achieving a double structure with high thermal insulation. This fabric, which combines the kasuri patterns born from Japan's natural environment and the beach cloth rooted in American labor culture, embodies warmth, simplicity, and a unique texture. This jacket is made from the original fabric "Kasuri Dyed Beach Cloth." The seams and fabric edges are finished with piping, ensuring meticulous craftsmanship. It features a relaxed silhouette.
