The Katsuo Sashiko is a type of Enshu (Shizuoka) weaving that features sashiko stitching on a fabric known as Katsuo stripes.
Just as the color of a Katsuo fish gradually lightens from its back to its belly,
the fabric's stripe pattern is represented with a gradient from deep indigo to light indigo,
which is why it is called 'Katsuo Kasuri.' This pattern was widely used for garments like yukata during the Edo period.
Additionally, some people associate it with the phrase 'Katsu Otoko' (Winning Man) for good luck.
At D'Artisan, we use a thick fabric that expresses Katsuo Sashiko through dobby weaving,
combined with an American work shirt design.
The buttons are made of nut material.
